शारदीय नवरात्रि आश्विन शुक्ल प्रतिपदा से शुरू होती है। तिथि सूर्य एवं चन्द्रमा के निरयण दीर्घांशों के 12° अंतर पर आधारित होती है। एक तिथि दो सूर्योदयों तक रह सकती है या सूर्योदय को स्पर्श नहीं कर सकती; इसलिए अष्टमी, नवमी और पारण के निर्णय में स्थानीय पंचांग और परम्परा देखें। शारदीय नवरात्रि 2026 का आरम्भ 11 अक्टूबर से माना गया है।

The Essential Message of Navratri: Planetary Afflictions, Lunar Dates and Spiritual Practice
Can worship remove every planetary affliction?
Not necessarily. A planet’s debilitation, retrogression, combustion, difficult aspects or placement in a challenging house does not by itself establish that all its results must be adverse. A proper Jyotish judgement evaluates the ascendant, lordships, dignity and strength, yogas, divisional charts, planetary periods and transits together. There is no universally established classical rule guaranteeing that worship of one particular Goddess automatically eliminates every challenging planetary indication.
Navratri Dates and the Panchanga
Sharadiya Navratri begins on Ashwin Shukla Pratipada in the relevant calendar tradition. A lunar tithi is determined by successive 12-degree differences between the Moon’s and Sun’s sidereal longitudes. It may cross more than one sunrise or may not prevail at sunrise at all; therefore, Ashtami, Navami and the timing of breaking a fast must be assessed using the local Panchanga and the observance rules of one’s tradition.
Sharadiya Navratri in 2026 is commonly observed beginning on 11 October. Local observance times should still be checked against the appropriate city-specific almanac.

During the nine nights, devotees may practise remembrance of the Goddess, lighting a lamp, simple offerings, charitable service and good conduct according to their abilities. Fasting should be adjusted to age, health and circumstances; harming the body is not an essential condition of spiritual growth.

The Devi Kavacha provides the nine goddess names, but a rigid assignment of one governing planet to each form is not a universally accepted rule of Parashari Jyotish. Birth-chart interpretation must consider planetary strength, sign, house and house lords, aspects, divisional charts, yogas, dashas and transits. A promise of marriage, recovery, wealth or a job based on a single planet or ritual would be unjustified.
